WHO ARE WE: CKDu Awareness is a Fiscally Sponsored 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

RAISING AWARENESS: Part of our mission here at CKDu Awareness is to raise awareness for Chronic Kidney Disease of Unknown etiology, otherwise known as CKDu, in Sri Lanka. We aim to educate people in Sri Lanka and across the globe on the effects, possible causes, and potential solutions for CKDu. It is crucial to know the signs of CKDu, especially for at-risk populations in order to identify the disease early and seek treatment. We hope to share a variety of resources, including blog posts, interviews, expert opinions, and advice. We hope to provide a wealth of information and tools to help individuals protect themselves and their loved ones from this disease.

FINDING SOLUTIONS: Along with raising awareness, we aim to address the issue at hand through effective solutions. We are currently raising funds to build water filtration units in Sri Lanka. After discussion with various experts on the topic, it seems that CKDu may very well be traceable to heavy metals in drinking water, especially in rural areas. Water filtration units are a great way of eliminating this risk factor at no cost to villages.
